Hey beautiful! Honestly, I would try cutting it and starting the growing out process from scratch. I’ve found from personal experience that trying to keep length by holding onto heat damage and split ends is only going to prolong the process. Try doing the cut and wearing protective styles for 6 months while keeping your hair moisturized and then come back and track your progress.

I’m actually thinking of doing something similar for my own hair because I recently got it straightened for a trim and I don’t think the hairstylist knew what she was doing. My hair smells pretty burned and it’s been days since I got it styled. :-(.
